What Will Become of Us?

Not sure when this forum began exactly, but we only have 200 or so members. I thought hitting the 200 mark might mean some good things moving forward.

seglob is the last new member, and has been the latest newcomer for a while now, but who the hell is seglob?

As much as we love (or hate) one another, and became accustomed to meeting our forum friends (or foes) and debating issues.....or simply following changing lives like going to college, meeting a special person, having a baby (!!!).... there's still the concern of what will become of us?

Some of my favorite posters are AWOL. I miss the likes of 2HD, Heero, Nogling, Miang, Momo, Cain, pedexing. People with opinions, plus a lot of knowledge in certain areas. Spawnie and gogo show up now and then, but not regularly.

Did we lose them in the transfer, or did they decide it was a good time to let go of a dying useless thing?


ps I thought of gcotton the other day. She was older and quite smart and articulate. Gosh, I hope she didn't die or something.

I've wondered what would happen if I died...I suppose everyone would just think I stopped posting for whatever reason. I miss the growth and sense of a larger community too, Geeg. Hell even if I don't have any idea what everyone's talking about half the time it's nice to see them talk all the same.

I think the real reason we lack new members is the lack of blog posts.
If we had more of those, we would bring in new blood.

People come, people go. I've actually been impressed at the "age" of the folks who have stopped by unexpectedly. Attracting new people here is of course an issue, one that I think a few people have given some thought to.

Ultimately, we all have to take it on ourselves to invite people here, make discussions people want to participate in and be open and civil about when someone is ruining the forum for others.

That said, a few weeks ago I was driving my son from point A to point B and he remarks to me that it seems to him there is no purpose to life. He's 7. I didn't tell him that, he figured it out for himself. I'm starting to think he's a prodigy.
