Thread: What is making you happy right now

My wife played her first game ever and killed 420 zombies all by herself.

    I'm so damned proud.

You have a good wife Crow

My kid is so damn cute....she giggled during most of lunch. Applesauce for her and turkey leftover for me. She thought my chewing skills were hilarious.

Now she's talking at the Christmas tree while chewing on her toes...LOL

Aw, first Christmas with baby! Babies and little kids make the holidays so much fun! Everything is new and exciting to them, even empty boxes!

It made me happy to see the tykes lining up for Santa over Thanksgiving. Babies wearing elf slippers and jingle bells on their strollers.

  4. #1954
Applesauce + baby is always a winning combination

Ya, K cried at her first meeting with Santa. But to be fair, she cries when anyone but me, Hubby, or my parents hold her. She's going through a stranger phase.
Which will break my in-laws hearts when they come to visit this weekend I'm sure.

    EDIT: Mommy likes applesauce too

  6. #1956
In all fairness to babies....some of those Santas are creepy looking! And it all depends on the place --- I'd probably cry over all the noise, lights, sounds, and costumed characters that our local mall has now, too.

And in-laws can be scary, too! Especially the type that rush in and grab a kid, so anxious to hold and kiss and hug and pinch cheeks and....I remember that from eager visiting grandparents when I was a tiny tot. That's probably why the smell of Listerine mouthwash and mothballs is noxious to me, even now.

These new drives are Maxtors spinning at 7900rpms. Can't hear them working at all, my Hitachi drive they are replacing was the noisiest drive I've ever owned. Never again.
The soon upcoming 25nm based Intel X25-M G3 should be a lot cheaper, and the speeds are rather decent for a SATAII interface. I bought mine now mostly due to Black Friday allowing me to. Will primarily use it as an OS drive, although originally I hardly need more than 100GB to use it as a storage disc too.

OMG I had a memory from when my oldest was about two years old. His first little girl friend was a neighbor two doors down, and her dad took both of them to one of those VFW or FOE type places downtown for their Christmas party. Santa was there, all sorts of food and music, lots of people he didn't know. He had a blast, sat on Santa's lap and came home with some trinkets.

Shortly thereafter he me asked about peoples' bones, as in "If bones are white, are Santa's bones white, too?"

I had no idea what the hell he was on about. Then it dawned on me, his friend Kara was black, and the whole party was filled with mostly black people. He may have been the only white kid there, and Santa was black, too!

It finally warmed up today. It's up to 50 degrees! I really think I need to get out, go to the library, bank, and grocery store...if for no other reason than to go outside a while!

Today I am having a day off and my Kinect controler arrived. What's not so cool is the fact that voice doesn't work because my xBox is set to Dutch. I sure hope they're going to fix that one of these days. I may even consider hooking the damn thing up to the internet
    Congratulations America

    xMas present to myself?
    I deserve it, right?

Thinking about it is making me happy.

In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Any reason you went with the HHR? and why that model over the panel?

Don't know why, always pictured you as an xB type of guy.

  18. #1968
Bitter isn't Asian, goth kid, or an old grandma. That's the only type of people I ever see driving xB's around here.

You going for the black one, or another color in mind Bitter?

  19. #1969
When I got my last car, it was all about it's style. I didn't care for most new cars out there, and I still don't.

Why the HHR? Because I can't afford a Prowler?

I bought a PT cruiser, because of it's retro styling, and hauling ability. I want an HHR because of it's retro styling, and increased cargo capacity.

I love my PT. The problem is, the were made poorly, even my later model 2005. I am not happy that the car is paid off, and is notorious for recurring problems like needing bushings replaced ever year or so. I just had $1600 worth of front end work, bearings, bushings again, and other stuff in July. Now it's making the same knocking sound it was before, and I am pissed. So I paid the car off early only to have to keep pumping money into it, which has worked out to be essentialy continued car payments.

Cat, I'd like black again. Maybe dark blue or red. No silver or white.

    What's an xB?

Around here this would be an XB:

But I reckon they're talking about this xB:
    Such is Life...

The Kid and I had a great day, all in all! We talked and laughed and ate good food and just generally goofed off with a day out of town! Other than the lamp (See "messed up groove" thread.) I got most of what I wanted. We may have to make one more, short, trip to pick up a few last minute things, but I think I am set with all the necessities for the winter!

I think the problem is that you keep on insisting on buying American cars, Rettib.

But you deserve whatever new toy you want.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.

OK, I wasn't that far off, figured you'd go for something expressive.

    What's an xB?
Scion brand, a spinoff from Toyota. Highly customizable and personalizable, straight from the factory.

  24. #1974
What I've noticed about the American cars posted so far, is that they are either very old fashioned with a large engine, or they seem kinda square and bulky. And all of them feature heaps of plastic! Wouldn't you rather want a more rounded one, that doesn't sacrifice some areas to add power to another.

I'd much rather want a car like that for speed & handling, or say a Volkswagen Golf for ordinary driving.

Tomorrow is like an empty canvas that extends endlessly, what should I sketch on it?

  25. #1975
I don't care much about performance. I had a Camaro Z28 indy pacer (82 i think). Loved its power, loved its handling, hated it's ride. But thats not what I look for in a car.
I like a nice ride, and comfort. The PT was pretty good in that way. So for me, it's more about that and it's outward style. Hmmm...I am going to consider the XB. It does have a hint of retro styling. I don't buy american by choice (lolli) I went purely on looks. If Toyota, or Honda made the PT, I still would have bought it. The new XB's look less boxy that the older ones, and the Cube make me gag.

New BMW Z4. Wonderful piece of machinery.

The Cube is another car that old ladies around here seem to prefer.
I'm guessing since the xB and Cube are relatively low to the ground they are easy for their old hips to get in and out of.

I like the HHR, I think the black is very nice. I don't like the metallic orange ones that were popular a few years back.

EDIT: And the z4 is a sexy car. Would love to have one.....

  28. #1978
I'm really torn now. Gonna have to test them.

I did go to the Scion site and "built" my car.

Both have plusses and minuses as far as options. Neither have heated seats, and the xb doesn't have a sunroof.

They don't make the loaded HHR SS turbo anymore, so I'd have took for a used one.

    Decisions decisions.

  29. #1979
The Scion xB 8.0 has a sunroof, but you'd likely have to talk to a dealership about getting ahold of one. Scion does a limited run each year of the Scion "versions".

    Ugh! That blue is hideous!

There is always after market sun roof, if I must have it.
