Default Help make the most of netflix

So turns out Netflix finally works here in Sweden and we're having a great time browsing through shows and movies at home and at work (nights on call are suddenly a lot more fun with a tablet and decent wifi). I'd like some help with sorting through the millions of shows and movies.

First of all, I'd like to know which season of the "new" Dr. Who series is the best. Ditto for Buffy.

I'd also appreciate any tips you have for good shows that aren't overly dramatic. I like light spy-action (Chuck, Alias, Jake 2.0), adventure (Warehouse 13, Veritas), semi-dramatic crime (Castle, Veronica Mars), scifi (Firefly, Space: Above and Beyond, SG-1, Eureka), basically fun geeky shows that aren't too depressingly claustrophobic experiments in relationship drama (Stargate: Universe).

Movies about cool ancient or alien artifacts, lost treasures, etc are also welcome

Best Buffy seasons, IMO, are 1, 2, and 4. Some also like 6 but that has more relationship drama.

If you like Buffy and X-Files you'd probably also like at least the first couple of seasons of Supernatural.

edit: OG, you don't have to lie, this is a non-judging space. You can cop to adding the My Little Pony.

You'd actually admit to putting those horrible BloodRayne movies in your queue? *shamesticks*

I'll admit I've likely watched more My little Pony than most bronies, but it honestly is my daughter's favorite show. and its not nearly as annoying as most other kids tv shows, so I don't have a problem sitting with her as she watches them.

over and over and over again.

Haven't got to watch the bloodrayne movies yet, figured a movie based off of a video game character that got her own playboy spread would at least be good for eye candy.

Surely you meant 2 and 3? 4 was a step backwards.

Anything from AMC is good. Pretty much the only good thing left on Netflix's instant library, to be honest. See: The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking Bad.

We recently dumped Netflix and don't miss it. My suggestion? Binge through the few worthwhile shows/movies on there, then cancel your subscription. Their content has been dramatically culled.

    you what
The light that once I thought compassion still casting shadows in your action
The words you shared were cold transactions that bring me to curse what you've done
When you're up there absorbed in greatness with such success you've grown complacent

I was going to suggest Breaking Bad too, but you don't want dramatic and heavy.

In that case, I definitely think you should try Archer. Some of the references and language could test your limits of Americana, but it's funny.

I did not like 3. It always feels disjointed, poorly put-together.

Gotta love 6. Spike and Buffy's relationship was so much more entertaining then Angel and Buffy.

Season 6 was such a lost cause that's when they said fuck it and wrote the musical episode.

Have to admit I never got around to watching Buffy (other than the original movie)

I've tried my best to get into Dr. Who, but the first season of the "new" series on Netflix (starting 2005 or 2006 I believe?) just isn't getting me sucked in. Should I be trying for a later year?

David Tennant seasons and Matt Smith. Trust me, suffer through the reboot to get to them.

House of Cards is a Netflix exclusive that is pretty entertaining. Considering its political nature it should be right up this boards alley.

The musical was amusing though. And I'll agree with Lewk about Spike/Buffy being more entertaining than Angel/Buffy. Then again, I loathed Angel from day one.

I've just resumed watching the reboot of Dr. Who--which I'd unintentionally abandoned way back when Eccleston played the Doctor--from series 6 and am LOVING it! I lured the wife in and soon thereafter Amy quickly established herself as one of our very few celebrity crushes <3 I'm also enjoying seeing Badger in an unusually likeable role

He's a good actor, but when he was trying to fake an American accent on Who I kept thinking "This is what Brits must feel like when Americans do it to them." Hugh Laurie, the man is not. I actually don't understand why they used so many obviously British actors to play Americans when they were shooting in the US. Surely it would have been cheaper to hire locally? I know Sheppard was already around due to his work on Supernatural, but what about all the no-names they got?

I'm comparing Huluplus (got a 3 month freebie with a BR player) and Netflix. So far I only watched one recent episode of Family Man on Hulu and I can tell you I was less than pleased to find that they run ads. For some annoying reason I haven' t been able to run Netflix on TV in Turkey, but I will persevere and make it so. I haven't tried Hulu so far in Holland.

What's real funny by the way is that all of the above upset the system of a VCC service I use so much that they decided they want to have a closer look at my identity. Guess not many people appear to be in the US, Turkey and Holland at the same moment.
    Congratulations America
