Thread: Xbox.com PC marketplace closes today.

Default Xbox.com PC marketplace closes today.

Not that anyone cares, but along with the transition away from points, Microsoft is also closing the PC Marketplace. They claim you can still download previous purchases, but that seems to be it. Age of Empires Online leaked that the service in its entirety will close on June 1, 2014 (along with any games that use GFWL).

That would make the 2nd digital distribution for games to shutdown on me. That's why I still prefer physical items.

That's why I refused to get involved with Steam games for years.

We have about 5 months left before GFWL shuts down. I managed to finish most of GTA IV, which pushed my gamerscore over 10,000 (w00t!). If anyone has a game on this list, get on it.

If you need to finish something multiplayer-ish speak up.

its hit and miss. Age of Empires Online will get shut down, from what I've gathered Fable 3 is so wrapped up in GFWL it will be unplayable. A lot of GFWL titles use the service to encrypt their saves, so not being able to log in means no more saving.

and of course the achievements won't work.

I don't care so much about achievements, TBH. I have GTA IV, I assume I can keep playing that? Even if only single player, I'm fine with that. Other than that I just have World of Goo, but I have that DRM free as well, and from the former games I've got the batman games. But I am kinda worried about GTA, since I remember a lot of hassle trying to play it for the first time, requiring windows live etc (which worked like utter shit).

Assuming Fable 3 on 360 won't be an issue?

Found out, totally by accident, that Bioshock 2 has moved over to Steam since GFWL is getting turned off in a few weeks. If you have a physical disc, or a digital GFWL copy, of the game redeem that key in Steam for a GFWLless version of the game and get the Den DLC for free.
