Sci-fi city builder, production chains, micro-management. Right up my street.
On Steam for £10.99. Don't normally go for early access games, prefer to wait for release, but am very tempted here.
Anyone else tried or thinking about it?

After reading about it on the website I'm put off by the notion that 2% of revenues will be given to "environmental charities" as yet undetermined and to be decided by the "community". While I care about the environment I despise many so-called charities that are supposedly environmentalist but are either borderline terrorist and/or Marxist in reality. I'm looking at you Greenpeace. I don't want to be funding these.
While I hold no love for Greenpeace, don't companies make (political) contributions all the time? Have you ever looked up a company and their political donations before buying from them?

No I don't think companies make that large a contribution relative to charities. Especially in our system. If I knew a company gave 2% of its revenues to the Labour Party then yes I'd think twice before buying their products, but I can't think of a single example.

I like Humble Bundle and give a lot of respect to them. Humble Bundle explains in advance which charity or charities the money is going to and lets you decide what proportion goes to the charity. I respect a lot of the charities Humble Bundle has associated with too. This is different as we don't even know which charity or charities the money is going to. Completely different.
It sounds fun, I'm considering it.

In regard to the 2% of funds for environmental causes, the following is on the game site's FAQ
With each purchase, an amount will be set aside. Once a reasonable amount is reached, we will release an open tender for suitable associations and projects to put themselves forward. After assessment by the Project Aura technical team and a vote by the game users, the selection will be resubmitted to a public vote, and the funds will go to the organization that receives the most votes.
Doesn't sound too bad to me.

In any case, bought the game. Several hours in. It's fun, and it's keeping me playing. Not too challenging, I'm not having any trouble balancing resources. Not yet at least, but I've only built about 30% of the possible buildings thus far.
I do find I have to sit and wait at 8x speed (maximum) to build up resources to sell so that I can buy the materials needed to build more. However, it seems that you can manufacture the building materials you need yourself, eventually.
It is rather directionless - you aren't led at all, and I did need to go to Youtube a couple of times to see what to do next. There is a tutorial but only covers a few elements of gameplay. Beta 3 will have quests, however, w
Been putting a lot of hours into this recently. New upates have added a lot.
The balance of this game is good. It is challenging and reasonably complex. Things take time to develop in the early stages; food resource is scarce. But once you can build enough to produce more and differing resources, the production chains extend in size and complexity, and take time to balance.
Turning into a fun game.
