Google search hasn't given a shit about operators and spelling for a while now, which is especially frustrating if you're trying to find results that contain your search terms verbatim.

You can force google to run a verbatim search by clicking tools --> all results --> verbatim. This unfortunately overrides some other filters (eg. for time).

This verbatim search seems to treat search terms between quotation marks differently from search terms without quotation marks.

If you find yourself wanting to use verbatim search often, you can use the following to create a bookmarklet—that forces verbatim search with a single click—or a local chrome/edge extension that you can activate with a keyboard shortcut:

You can also set up a separate search engine with keyword search so you can search verbatim directly from the location bar, but I typically find myself wanting to do this after I've already run a search. All you need to do is append "&tbs=li:1" to the search URL. I haven't been able to find a way to chain tbs parameters

This has made my life with google a lot less frustrating so I reckon it could be of use to other weirdos as well anyway cheers and enjoy google 2010.
